Esquire Higton was a background character in The Wise Man's Fear. Kvothe learns of Higton's demise during a stroll with Lerand Alveron in the latter's gardens.
Death
According to Alveron, Higton had made an "inappropriate" remark prompting a duel with Hesua's father. Higton died the next day due to injuries sustained during the duel. [1]
