Cethan is the Ademic word for "mercenary" [1]. It is an honorific title to the Adem that does not carry the same negative commonwealth connotation. Adem mercenaries are renowned for their prowess throughout Temerant. They are paid two or three jots a day, twenty times what a normal mercenary gets[2]. Cethan pride themselves on returning a full 80 percent of that pay to their home town [3].
