Tintatatornin
The finest song ever written for fifteen fingers.
– Arliden
Tintatatornin is a song written by Illien. Kvothe describes it as a bit of an oddity compared to Illien's other works, specifically because it has no lyrics and isn't as catchy or moving as Illien's other works. Tintatatornin is perversely difficult to play and is often used by Arliden as a way of humbling a young Kvothe when he started becoming too full of himself.[1]
In the Chronicle
Kvothe plays Tintatatornin during a visit to the Eolian. During his performance, Kvothe plays a joke on the audience by performing Tintatatornin carelessly, as if it was a simple song that anyone could play whereas just moments before he had played Bell-Wether, a simple tune that can be whistled, as if it was one of the most difficult songs he had ever performed.
After Kvothe's performance, Marie mentions that it's likely only a handful of musicians at the Eolian could have played the song, much less as easily as Kvothe.
