Arthur Herma is the Master Linguist and the Chancellor of the University during the majority of Kvothe's time there. Towards the end of The Wise Man's Fear, Herma falls ill and is taken to the Medica and Jasom Hemme is named Chancellor. Kvothe describes Herma as surprisingly deft and gentle.
Herma is one of few people alive who knows how to read and braid Yllish story knots.
