Master Archivist
The Master Archivist is in charge of the University's Archives. The position is currently held by Lorren. The Master Archivist also employs gillers who go all over Temerant searching for rare books. During Admissions Interviews, the Master Archivist asks questions about history.

Master Archivists
Larkin
Larkin was Master Archivist about fifty years before the events of The Name of the Wind . He oversaw the production of ledger books that catalogued the locations of about two hundred thousand books.[1]
Tolem
Tolem was Master Archivist about fifty years before the events of The Name of the Wind during the the War of the Scrivs, which ended when his scrivs burnt Larkin's ledger books. He died five years later.[1] His ledger book and system of organising the archives are currently in use, though they aren't comprehensive.[2]
Lorren
Lorren is the current Master Archivist. He is impassive, but protective of the archives, and has an encyclopedic knowledge of university rules.
